About

West Fork Campground sits in a remote location along the West Fork of the Teton River in Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest, 39 miles northwest of Choteau. This small, primitive campground caters to tent campers seeking solitude and access to backcountry recreation. With only 6 tent sites, the facility maintains a quiet, low-impact atmosphere ideal for anglers and hikers exploring the adjacent wilderness areas. The campground provides essential amenities including vault toilets, drinking water from a hand pump, picnic tables, and fire rings at each site. Bears frequent the area, making mandatory food storage in approved containers a critical requirement. Campers must keep all food out of sight and remove food from the area after eating. Nearby trails provide access to fishing opportunities along the Teton River and hiking routes into the surrounding mountains. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations available. A small fee of $6 per night is required (cash or check), with Interagency Senior and Access Pass holders receiving a 50% discount. Stays are limited to 14 consecutive days.
