Green Gulch Dispersed Camp Campground
Open for camping. A December 2025 windstorm created hazards throughout the forest; downed trees may be present. Mandatory bear food storage required.
About
Green Gulch Dispersed Camp Campground provides a backcountry camping experience in the Rocky Mountain Range of the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest in Teton County, Montana. This dispersed campground offers minimal development with only a vault toilet on site, making it suitable for self-sufficient campers seeking a primitive experience. The area is popular for horseback riding and camping. Bears are known to frequent this location, so mandatory food storage in approved bear-resistant containers is required. All food must be kept out of sight and removed from the area after eating. As with all dispersed camping in this forest, campers must pack out all trash, bring their own drinking water, and practice Leave No Trace principles. Human waste should be buried in catholes 6-8 inches deep and at least 100 feet from water sources.
Directions
Green Gulch Dispersed Camp Campground is located in the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest. From Choteau, Montana, head west on Teton Canyon Road for approximately 25 miles. The campground is situated near the South Fork of the Teton River.
