About

West Branch State Park Group Campground offers three group camping sites located within the park's main family campground area in Portage County, Ohio. The campground sits on the shores of the 2,650-acre Michael J. Kirwan Reservoir, providing campers with access to a small beach and boat launch ramp directly from the camping area. The family campground, where the group sites are located, features modern amenities including heated showers, flush toilets, laundry facilities, and a trailer dump station. The park's extensive recreational opportunities include 14 miles of hiking trails with a connection to the statewide Buckeye Trail via a 2-mile spur trail, 19+ miles of mountain bike trails on the south side of the park, and nearly 20 miles of bridle trails through woodlands and meadows. The reservoir offers unlimited horsepower boating with five launch ramps throughout the park, seasonal marina services, and fishing for bass, walleye, crappie, bluegill, catfish, and trophy muskellunge. Additional facilities include an 18-hole disc golf course near the beach, a 9-hole course in the campground area, and a dog park with swimming pond. The park sits on the glaciated plateau of northeastern Ohio, featuring beech-maple forests and boggy wetlands that support diverse plant and animal life.

Directions

From Ravenna, Ohio, take State Route 5 east for approximately 7 miles. Turn right onto Esworthy Road and continue for about 1 mile to reach the park entrance.
