About

Punderson Campground is nestled in a scenic lakeside setting at Punderson State Park, located on land that was once an Indian village. The campground sits between Stump Lake and Punderson Lake, Ohio's largest and deepest natural kettle lake, formed by glacial activity over 12,000 years ago. With 201 sites spread across the wooded terrain, the campground offers a range of options from primitive sites to those with 20-amp electric hookups, plus two full hookup sites with water and sewer service. The family-friendly campground features heated shower houses, flush toilets, and modern amenities while maintaining a natural, shaded atmosphere. Many sites are level and paved, with some offering lakefront views. The park's 741 acres provide diverse recreational opportunities year-round, from swimming, fishing, and hiking in warmer months to sledding, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing in winter. Punderson is recognized as Ohio's premier winter sports park, making this one of the few campgrounds that actively welcomes winter campers with heated facilities and water access during cold months. The campground also features an amphitheater, fishing dock, kayak launch, and nature center. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound, with great blue herons, Canada geese, beavers, white-tailed deer, and great horned owls inhabiting the diverse ecosystem around the kettle lake.
