About

West Branch Equestrian Camp is a specialized camping area located within West Branch State Park, designed exclusively for equestrians and their horses. The campground offers primitive, non-electric campsites set in a spacious wooded environment with large plots to accommodate horse trailers and RVs. With approximately 22 equestrian-specific campsites, the facility caters to riders seeking access to the park's extensive bridle trail system. The campground serves as a basecamp for exploring nearly 20 miles of bridle trails that weave through the park's diverse landscape of gently rolling terrain, woodlands, meadows, and ravines leading to the lake. The natural surface trails feature multiple water crossings and seasonal wet spots. Amenities include high lines for securing horses, stock water for animals, picnic tables at each site, and restroom facilities. The bridle trails close during winter, though riders can use the service road to access the camp year-round. Reservations are required and can be made through the Ohio State Parks reservation system. The campground is located about two miles from the main trailhead access. Campers should note that riders must provide their own horses, and the area is designed specifically for equestrian use with ample space for horse trailers and camping equipment.
