About

Curly Jack Campground is situated at 1,075 feet elevation on the banks of the Klamath Wild and Scenic River, directly across from the town of Happy Camp. The campground features 16 individual campsites available on a first-come, first-served basis, plus 3 group sites that accommodate up to 30 people each and require reservations through Recreation.gov. Sites are arranged on a paved loop under mature trees along the river. The campground serves as both a put-in and take-out point for whitewater rafting on a Class III section of the Klamath River, though boats must be carried across a gravel bar to access the water. Fishing and birding are popular activities along the river corridor. The campground provides convenient access to the State of Jefferson Scenic Byway for scenic driving, and numerous hiking trails throughout the Klamath National Forest are within reach. Curly Jack's location within walking distance to Happy Camp gives campers easy access to town amenities including restaurants, a grocery store, whitewater rafting outfitters, and fishing guides. The campground sits within the nearly 2-million acre Klamath National Forest, which spans the California-Oregon border and includes five wilderness areas, 200 miles of wild and scenic river, and over 1,100 miles of hiking and equestrian trails.
