About

Curly Jack Campground is situated along the Klamath Wild and Scenic River at an elevation of 1,075 feet, directly opposite the town of Happy Camp in the Klamath National Forest. The campground features 16 shaded single-family sites on a paved loop under the trees, plus three group campsites that can accommodate up to 30 people each. Individual sites are first-come, first-served while group sites require advance reservations. The location is popular with whitewater enthusiasts as it provides access to a Class III section of the Klamath River, serving as both a put-in and take-out point for rafting trips. Boats must be carried across a gravel bar to access the water. Fishing, birding, and hiking are also popular activities, with the State of Jefferson Scenic Byway nearby for scenic driving. The campground is within walking distance of Happy Camp, where visitors can find restaurants, a grocery store, whitewater rafting outfitters, and fishing guides. This is bear country, so all food must be stored in approved containers, and firewood cannot be transported into the area.
