About

West Bank Shelter is a group picnic facility operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Okatibbee Lake, located at the western end of Okatibbee Dam near Collinsville, Mississippi. The shelter provides a covered gathering space with electric hookups, making it suitable for group events, family reunions, and community gatherings. The facility is positioned adjacent to the Okatibbee Resource Office and West Bank Day Use area. The shelter's location offers immediate access to West Bank Beach and the lake, providing opportunities for swimming, fishing, and water recreation. The site includes designated parking areas and requires users to adhere to specific regulations including noise restrictions, prohibition of excessive water use items, and departure by park closing time at sunset. Group size is limited to the seating and parking capacity of the shelter area. Okatibbee Lake is an 11,000-acre multi-purpose U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project located approximately 10 miles northwest of Meridian in east-central Mississippi. The shelter requires advance reservations through Recreation.gov, and additional permitting is required for inflatable jump houses and slides. The facility operates seasonally, typically closing during winter months.
