About
Collinsville Shelter is a group shelter pavilion located within the Collinsville Day Use Area on the western shore of Okatibbee Lake in Lauderdale County, Mississippi. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Mobile District, this facility is designed for group gatherings, picnics, and special events rather than overnight camping.
The shelter features electric hookups and provides a covered gathering space for groups. Reservations are made through Recreation.gov, and groups using the facility must adhere to park regulations including no excessive noise, no water slides or water balloons, and all trash must be removed or placed in designated receptacles. Additional permitting is required for inflatable jump houses and slides.
The day use area closes at sunset, and all groups must clean their area and vacate by closing time. Parking is limited to designated spaces, and group size is restricted to the seating and parking capacity of the facility. Okatibbee Lake itself is an 11,000-acre multi-purpose Corps of Engineers project offering boating, fishing, swimming, and other recreational activities across multiple day use parks and one full-service campground elsewhere on the lake.
