About
Located just south of Meridian near the Mississippi-Alabama state line, Clarkco State Park has served as a popular Mississippi recreation destination since 1938. Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the park spans 815 acres of gently rolling pine woodlands surrounding 65-acre Ivy Lake. The developed camping area offers 43 concrete-pad sites with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections. Each site includes picnic tables and grills. Three bathhouses provide hot showers, with two featuring laundry facilities. Beyond the developed area, 15 primitive tent sites offer a more rustic experience with picnic tables, fire rings, and nearby water access on a first-come, first-served basis. The park provides extensive recreational opportunities for campers. A five-mile nature trail encircles the park with an observation tower overlooking the lake, and 14 total miles of trails accommodate hiking and mountain biking. The Twin Pines disc golf course offers 18 holes through wooded terrain. Water enthusiasts enjoy year-round boating, water skiing, tubing, and fishing for bass, bream, and catfish. The recently refurbished Ivy Splash Zone provides zero-depth spray features. Additional amenities include tennis and pickleball courts, three age-appropriate playgrounds, 60 picnic sites, three reservable pavilions, and an amphitheater. The park office houses a camp store and meeting room. Day use requires a $2 entrance fee for visitors over age 5.
