About

Wawona Horse Campsites provides dedicated equestrian camping in Yosemite's Wawona area, 27 miles south of Yosemite Valley. The campground sits at 4,000 feet elevation in a mixed forest of ponderosa pine, incense-cedar, and white fir along the South Fork Merced River. Each of the two sites includes a picnic table, fire ring, food storage locker, and high lines for securing stock. This is a stock-mandatory campground. Campers must arrive with horses or other stock animals; reservations made without stock will be cancelled and campers will not be allowed to stay. Grazing is prohibited and all grain must be stored in the provided food lockers. Campsites must be cleaned daily with manure and uneaten fodder bagged. A dump station is available behind the Wawona General Store on Forest Drive. The historic Pioneer Yosemite History Center is adjacent to the campground, and the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias is just four miles away. Several trails are accessible from Wawona including Chilnualna Falls, Wawona Meadow Loop, and Alder Creek.
