About
Soquel Campground consists of two loops situated on the banks of Willow Creek in the Highway 41 Corridor of Sierra National Forest's Bass Lake Ranger District. The 11 primitive sites are well-shaded by pine and fir trees, each featuring a dirt parking spur, picnic table, campfire ring, and grill. The campground can accommodate small trailers and tents with a maximum vehicle length of 20 feet. The area is known for excellent hiking opportunities, including the nearby Shadow of the Giants, a popular 1-mile trail through a grove of giant sequoias at Nelder Grove. The 3.7-mile Lewis Creek National Recreation Trail and Miami Motorcycle Trails network are accessible from Highway 41 west of the campground. The campground sits just off the Sierra Vista Scenic Byway (Sky Ranch Road), an 83-mile scenic drive showcasing Sierra National Forest highlights. Vault toilets are provided, but drinking water is not available. Campers must bring their own water supply. A campground host is on-site, and firewood is available for purchase. The location offers convenient access to Yosemite National Park for day trips and is near the historic Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad.
Directions
From Fresno, take Highway 41 north through Oakhurst. Take Sky Ranch Road (Road 632) east for 7 miles, turn southeast on Forest Road 6S40, and travel 1 mile to Soquel Campground.
