About

Summerdale Campground is located just 1.5 miles from Yosemite National Park on Highway 41 in the Sierra National Forest. The campground sits in a scenic wildflower-filled meadow surrounded by fir, cottonwood, and cedar trees at approximately 5,000 feet elevation. Its proximity to Yosemite, excellent fishing opportunities, and cooler summer temperatures make it a highly popular destination. Big Creek runs by the campground and is known for rainbow trout fishing and active beaver populations. The campground is situated in the Highway 41 Corridor of the Bass Lake Ranger District, an area renowned for its giant sequoias. Each campsite features a paved parking spur, picnic table, grill, and campfire ring. The campground provides vault toilets, and water is typically available during the operating season. Nearby attractions include day trips into Yosemite National Park, the Miami Motorcycle Trails Area for off-road vehicles, the 3.7-mile Lewis Creek National Recreation Trail, Nelder Grove's giant sequoias, and the Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad. The Sierra National Forest's western slope terrain ranges from oak-covered foothills to heavily forested middle elevations and alpine High Sierra landscapes.
