About
Big Sandy Campground is a quiet, primitive campground located on a spacious sandy flat beside Big Creek in the Bass Lake Ranger District of Sierra National Forest. The campground features 18 individual campsites, each equipped with a grill, fire ring, and picnic table. Some sites offer natural shade from surrounding trees. The setting along Big Creek provides opportunities for fishing and enjoying the mountain stream environment. This is a lightly-used campground ideal for those seeking a more rustic experience away from the crowds. Road access combines paved and dirt surfaces, crossing Big Creek to reach the campground. The 20-foot vehicle length limit makes this campground suitable for smaller RVs, truck campers, and tent camping, but not large motorhomes or trailers. Amenities are limited to vault toilets. No drinking water is available on site, so campers must bring an adequate supply. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis and is not reservable through Recreation.gov. Maximum stay is 14 days, with a limit of 6 people per site.
Directions
From Fresno, take Highway 41 to Oakhurst. Travel approximately 10 miles and turn right on Forest Road 6S07 (just below Fish Camp). Continue approximately 6 miles to the campground. The road crosses Big Creek.
