About
Big Sandy Campground offers a rustic camping experience on a large sandy flat adjacent to Big Creek in Sierra National Forest. Located approximately 6 miles from Highway 41 via Forest Road 6S07, this 18-site campground provides a peaceful setting for campers seeking a more primitive experience. Each of the 18 sites is equipped with a grill, fire ring, and picnic table, with some sites offering natural shade from surrounding trees. The campground's distinctive sandy terrain sets it apart from typical forest floor camping. Road access includes both paved and dirt sections, with the road crossing Big Creek before reaching the campground. Vehicle length is limited to 20 feet, making this best suited for smaller RVs, trailers, and tent campers. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis and provides vault toilets but no potable water, so campers must bring their own drinking water. Maximum group size is 6 people per site with a 14-day maximum stay. The remote location and light usage levels make this an ideal destination for those seeking solitude in the Sierra Nevada foothills.
Directions
