About

Washunga Bay Campground is a US Army Corps of Engineers facility located on Kaw Lake in Kay County, Oklahoma. The lake covers 17,000 surface acres with 168 miles of shoreline, completed in 1976. The campground provides 24 standard electric campsites equipped with 30-amp electrical hookups and water connections, suitable for tents, RVs, trailers, and fifth wheels up to 60 feet in length. The lake produces some of Oklahoma's largest catfish along with crappie, white bass, and walleye. The Eagle View Hiking Trail runs approximately 12 miles between Osage Cove and Burbank Landing, while the Five Fingers Equestrian Trail extends from Burbank Landing to Sarge Creek Cove. During fall waterfowl seasons, large numbers of migrating ducks and geese visit the area, and winter brings one of Oklahoma's biggest populations of migrating bald eagles. The surrounding area includes historical sites such as Native American settlements, archaeological sites, and the Pioneer Woman Museum in nearby Ponca City.
