About
McFadden Day Use Area is situated along the banks of Kaw Lake in north central Oklahoma, near the lake dam and Hideaway Marina. The facility offers 4 group picnic shelters with individual water hookups, making it ideal for day outings and group gatherings. A vault toilet is available on-site, and a boat ramp is located nearby for easy lake access.
Kaw Lake, completed in 1976, covers 17,000 surface acres with 168 miles of shoreline. The lake and river are known for producing some of Oklahoma's largest catfish, as well as crappie, white bass, and walleye, making it a popular destination for anglers. The area also offers excellent hunting opportunities for whitetail deer, turkey, quail, rabbit, and squirrel. During fall waterfowl seasons, Kaw Lake attracts large numbers of migrating ducks and geese, and winter visitors are likely to spot migrating bald eagles, as the lake hosts one of the biggest populations in Oklahoma.
The surrounding area holds a number of historical sites, including several Native American settlements, archeological sites, and the Pioneer Woman Museum, making it an attractive destination for those interested in regional history and culture.
