About

Coon Creek Campground is situated on a scenic peninsula that extends into Kaw Lake in north central Oklahoma. The rural, quiet campground offers 54 campsites spread across a wooded setting, providing both sunny and shaded options with plenty of lake views. Each campsite includes electric hookups and can accommodate either two tents or one RV and one tent. Kaw Lake covers 17,000 surface acres with 168 miles of shoreline and is known for producing some of Oklahoma's largest catfish, along with crappie, white bass, and walleye. The campground features a boat ramp for easy water access. On land, visitors can explore the Eagle View Hiking Trail, which runs approximately 12 miles between Osage Cove and Burbank Landing, or the Five Fingers Equestrian Trail extending from Burbank Landing to Sarge Creek Cove. The area supports excellent hunting for whitetail deer, turkey, quail, rabbit, and squirrel, and during winter, Kaw Lake attracts one of Oklahoma's largest populations of migrating bald eagles.

Directions

From Newkirk, Oklahoma, take Highway 77 south to Highway 11 east. Continue about 6 miles, then turn north onto County road and follow signs into the campground.
