Coon Creek

Open

Open for reservations via Recreation.gov. The campground operates seasonally from mid-March through the end of October. Sites 36-40 are subject to flooding and may be closed during periods of high water.

About

Coon Creek Campground occupies a quiet peninsula on the shores of Kaw Lake, a 17,000-acre reservoir managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in north central Oklahoma. The campground offers 54 sites with 30-amp electric hookups and water, gravel driveways, and a mix of sunny and shaded spots overlooking the lake. Modern facilities include flush toilets, showers, a dump station, and a boat ramp. Kaw Lake is known for producing some of Oklahoma's largest catfish along with crappie, white bass, and walleye. The eastern shore features the 12-mile Eagle View Hiking Trail between Osage Cove and Burbank Landing, and the Five Fingers Equestrian Trail for horseback riders. Hunters find excellent populations of whitetail deer, turkey, quail, rabbit, and squirrel. Winter visitors can spot migrating bald eagles, as Kaw Lake hosts one of the largest populations in the state. Nearby attractions include Native American historical sites, archeological areas, and the Pioneer Woman Museum.
