Bear Creek Cove Campground is situated along the banks of Kaw Lake in north central Oklahoma, providing a peaceful lakeside setting for outdoor enthusiasts. The campground offers 22 campsites equipped with 15 amp electric and water hookups, a modern comfort station with flush toilets and warm showers, an on-site boat ramp, and a dump station. Operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the facility serves as an excellent base for exploring the 17,000-acre lake with its 168 miles of shoreline. Kaw Lake is renowned for producing some of Oklahoma's largest catfish, along with abundant crappie, white bass, and walleye, making it a premier fishing destination. Boaters can launch directly from the campground, though the boat ramp is only usable at high seasonal pool levels. Beyond water recreation, visitors can explore the Eagle View Hiking Trail, a 12-mile route along the eastern shore running between Osage Cove and Burbank Landing, or ride the Five Fingers Equestrian Trail extending from Burbank Landing to Sarge Creek Cove. Hunters will find excellent populations of whitetail deer, turkey, quail, rabbit, and squirrel, while fall brings migrating waterfowl. Winter visitors often spot bald eagles, as Kaw Lake hosts one of Oklahoma's largest populations of these majestic birds. The area also features historical sites including Native American settlements and the Pioneer Woman Museum.

Directions

From Newkirk, Oklahoma, take Peckham Road and travel east for about 8 miles, turn right on Bear Creek Road and continue south for 3 miles. Campground will be on the right.
