About

Washington State Park campground offers diverse camping options in Missouri's eastern Ozarks, approximately 14 miles northeast of Potosi and 7 miles southwest of De Soto off Highway 21. The campground includes basic sites, electric sites, family electric sites, and platform tent sites (available April through October only). Amenities include modern shower houses, laundry facilities, vault toilets, a dump station, playground, and an amphitheater with accessible seating. The park is distinguished by its prehistoric Native American petroglyphs and historic stone structures built by African American Civilian Conservation Corps stonemasons in the 1930s. Three hiking trails wind through rugged Ozark terrain with scenic overlooks. Big River offers easy access for swimming, fishing, canoeing, and kayaking. During the on-season (April 1 through October 31), campers have access to potable water, modern restrooms, and showers. During the off-season, only vault toilets are available and campers must bring their own water. Reservations can be made up to 12 months in advance online or by phone, with walk-up registration available for unreserved sites.
