St. Joe State Park Campground is situated within Missouri's third-largest state park, covering 8,243 acres in the Old Lead Belt region along the Saint Francois Mountains. The park operates two distinct campgrounds to serve different recreational users. Campground 1, the ORV Campground, contains 75 sites total with 40 offering electric hookups at 20, 30, and 50 amps, plus 35 basic sites. This campground is positioned near the 2,000-acre off-road vehicle riding area, one of the largest ORV areas in the Midwest. Campground 2 is designated for equestrian camping and provides access to the park's horse trails. Both campgrounds feature pull-through sites with concrete vehicle pads, picnic tables, fire rings, and lantern posts. Modern amenities include restrooms with showers, laundry facilities, and a dump station. Drinking water is available throughout, though individual sites do not have water or sewer hookups. The campgrounds are shaded and designed to accommodate large trailers for those bringing off-road vehicles or horses. Sites must be reserved in advance due to high demand, with reservations available up to 12 months ahead through the Missouri State Parks system. The park's extensive trail network connects to the campgrounds, providing access to sand flats, wooded hills, four lakes, two swimming beaches, and both paved and natural surface trails for various uses.

Directions

From St. Louis, travel south on I-55 to the Festus/US Hwy 67 exit. Take US Hwy 67 south approximately 30 miles toward Park Hills, MO. Turn right/west onto Hwy 32 for approximately 3.5 miles. Turn left/south onto Pimville Road (just before railroad tracks) and follow this road to the main park entrance on your left, approximately 2.3 miles.
