St. Joe State Park Equestrian Campground 2 serves horseback riders visiting Missouri's Old Lead Belt region. This dedicated equestrian campground features 25 campsites designed to accommodate horse trailers, with 13 sites offering electric hookups (20-amp and 30-amp service) and pull-through access. The remaining 12 sites are basic, non-electric sites. All campsites are reservable up to 12 months in advance. The campground is positioned near the park's equestrian trail system, providing direct access to miles of horseback riding trails. Each campsite includes a concrete pad, picnic table, fire pit, and lantern post. Modern amenities include restrooms with showers, a dump station, and laundry facilities. The shaded campground offers a quieter alternative to the park's ORV-focused Campground 1. St. Joe State Park spans over 8,000 acres in the Old Lead Belt mining region and is Missouri's third-largest state park. Beyond equestrian facilities, the park features four clear lakes with swimming beaches, hiking and bicycling trails, and picnic areas. The park is open year-round with seasonal hour variations.

Directions

From St. Louis, travel south on I-55 to Festus, then take U.S. Hwy. 67 south to the Leadington/Park Hills exit. Turn right onto Hwy. 32 west, travel about 3.5 miles, and turn left onto Pimville Road just before the railroad tracks. After approximately two miles, Campground 1 will be on the left; continue an additional 0.3 miles to reach the park office, ORV riding area, lakes, and day-use areas.
