About

Nestled in the quiet sanctuary of Don Robinson State Park, this special-use camping area offers groups a rustic retreat surrounded by sandstone canyons, shelter caves, cliffs, and dense forests. Located in Jefferson County just outside St. Louis, the park was the personal sanctuary of Don Robinson, who left the land to Missouri's state park system upon his death. The gated camping area features four tent platforms, six picnic tables, seven lantern posts, and a centralized fire ring, providing a basic but functional setup for organized groups. The site is specifically designed for youth organizations like Boy Scouts and small nonprofits, with capacity for up to 30 people and parking for 12 vehicles. A port-a-potty is available on-site, but campers must bring all their own water as none is available at the camping area. The location provides access to the park's trail system, where visitors can explore the unique landscape of the upper LaBarque Creek watershed, including box canyons, rock shelters, glades, and native shortleaf pine stands that represent some of the northernmost occurrences of this species in Missouri.
