About

St. Francois State Park Shelters consist of two large covered picnic shelters located within the 2,735-acre state park in the Missouri Ozarks. These are day-use facilities intended for daytime gatherings such as family reunions, company picnics, and group events. Shelter #1 features 10 picnic tables and comfortably accommodates up to 60 people, while Shelter #2 has 12 tables and can hold up to 72 people. The shelters can be reserved for $40 each through the Missouri State Parks reservation system. Reservations can be made online from 30 days to 12 months in advance. For reservations less than 30 days out, contact the park directly. If not reserved, shelters are available on a first-come, first-served basis at no charge. Vault toilets are located nearby, but no water or electricity is provided at the shelter sites themselves. The surrounding park offers extensive recreational opportunities including three hiking trails through forested ridges and cool hollows, access to the Big River for canoeing, fishing, and over 100 campsites in a separate campground area. Rock climbing and rappelling are available with a permit.

Directions
