Jordanelle - Rock Cliff Area

Rock Cliff Campground occupies a unique position within Jordanelle State Park, offering a more intimate and secluded camping experience than the larger Hailstone Recreation Area across the reservoir. All 50 tent sites are walk-in only, with no vehicle access to individual sites. Tent pads are 9x9 feet. The campground is distributed through three loops named Riverbed, Aspen Grove, and Upland Meadow, each nestled in the riparian corridor along the Provo River. The adjacent Rock Cliff Nature Center provides educational programming about the wetland ecosystem, and the area's elevated boardwalks and maintained trails wind through sage uplands and wetland areas to views of the Provo River entering Jordanelle Reservoir. The Three Rocks Trail offers a 0.7-mile hike with 150 feet of elevation gain, while the 22-mile Perimeter Trail connects Rock Cliff to Hailstone. Wildlife sightings include eagles, hawks, deer, elk, moose, beaver, and fox. A single-lane boat ramp provides reservoir access for small watercraft under 16 feet, including kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards. The Provo River and Jordanelle Reservoir offer fishing opportunities. A group pavilion is available for gatherings, and a fish cleaning station serves anglers.

Directions

From Salt Lake City, take I-80 East to US 40 East, then turn left at the traffic light near mile marker 13 onto Highway 32 East. Continue approximately 7.5 miles, then turn left onto Rock Cliff Road to the park entrance. From Provo, take US 189 East to US 40 West toward Park City, turn right at the traffic light near mile marker 13 onto Highway 32 East, travel 7.5 miles, then left onto Rock Cliff Road.
