About
Warner Valley Campground offers a primitive camping experience in the remote southeastern corner of Lassen Volcanic National Park. Nestled at the base of a steep mountainside amid conifer trees at 5,650 feet elevation, this 18-site campground provides a peaceful escape with access to excellent hiking trails and geothermal features. The campground is managed by park concessionaire Snow Mountain, LLC. Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table, fire grate, and bear-proof storage box. The campground provides vault toilets and potable water spigots during the operating season. No hookups, showers, or other modern amenities are available, though nearby Drakesbad Guest Ranch (half a mile away) offers meals, hot showers, and limited supplies for purchase. Full services including groceries, gasoline, and laundromat facilities are available in Chester, 17 miles south. Access requires navigating 17 miles of partly paved and gravel roads from Chester, with the final stretch being steep and rutted. This road is not recommended for RVs or trailers. The campground offers 17 reservable sites and 1 first-come, first-served site. Due to elevation and snowpack, the season typically runs from mid-June through mid-October, weather permitting. The Warner Valley area showcases Lassen's volcanic diversity and provides a quieter alternative to the park's more developed campgrounds.
