Forested campground in Warner Valley

Warner Valley Campground

Closed

Closed for the season. Opens June 12, 2026 through October 12, 2026, weather permitting. Eight sites are reservable via Recreation.gov; nine sites are first-come, first-served.

About

Warner Valley Campground offers a quieter, more remote camping experience in the southeastern area of Lassen Volcanic National Park. The 17 primitive campsites sit at 5,650 feet elevation at the base of a steep mountainside amid conifer forest. Each site includes a picnic table, fire grate, and bear-proof food storage locker. Vault toilets and potable water spigots are available seasonally throughout the campground. The campground provides direct access to some of the park's most impressive hydrothermal features via hiking trails. Popular destinations include Boiling Springs Lake, Devils Kitchen, and Terminal Geyser. Drakesbad Guest Ranch, located half a mile away at the end of Warner Valley Road, offers dining and shower facilities for an additional fee. Access to the campground requires navigating 12.5 miles of steep, rutted gravel road from Chester. RVs and trailers are strongly discouraged due to road conditions. There is no cell service or internet available. Eight sites may be reserved through Recreation.gov while the remaining nine sites are first-come, first-served.

Directions

From CA-36 in Chester, turn onto Feather River Road on the east side of the bridge. Continue half a mile and veer left onto CR-312. Continue 4 miles and veer right to stay on CR-312. Follow signs to Drakesbad. Continue 12.5 miles to Warner Valley Campground. The access road is steep, rutted gravel; RVs and trailers not recommended.
