Shelter reservations for any event other than a picnic (wedding, sporting event, etc.) or for over 50 attendees/participants require a Special Use Permit Application be submitted 30 days in advance of the reservation date. About

The Visitor Center Picnic Shelter is a day-use only facility situated at Green River Lake's Visitor Center Day Use Area, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The shelter provides electricity hookup, 8 picnic tables, grills, playground access, and restroom facilities (restrooms are closed during winter months). No overnight camping is permitted; the day use area closes at 5:00 PM Eastern daily with gates locked. The shelter is free to use on a first-come, first-served basis when unreserved, or can be reserved in advance for a fee. Reservations require a minimum of 24 hours advance notice. Events other than picnics (weddings, sporting events, etc.) or gatherings exceeding 50 participants require a Special Use Permit submitted 30 days in advance. Nearby attractions include the Corps of Engineers Visitor Center, the Historical Civil War Atkinson-Griffin Log Cabin, and the Site 1 boat ramp located 1 mile away. Green River Lake offers 8,000 surface acres of water for boating, fishing (walleye, crappie, white bass, muskie, bluegill), and surrounding land supports hunting for deer, turkey, and small game.

Directions

From Campbellsville, KY: Head southwest on E Broadway St toward Lebanon Ave (0.6 mi). E Broadway St turns slightly right and becomes US-68 W/Greensburg Rd (0.5 mi). Turn left onto KY-55 S (8.3 mi). Turn left onto Hwy 1061/Lake Rd (0.7 mi). When the road forks, take the right side towards the Corps Office and Visitor Center (0.2 mi). Destination will be on the right.
