About

Holmes Bend Campground is situated along Kentucky's Highland Rim on the pristine banks of Green River Lake, surrounded by forested tracts and rolling meadows. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this 125-site campground offers a mix of electric-only sites and water/electric hookup sites, providing comfortable camping with flush toilets, hot showers, fire rings, and drinking water. Green River Lake encompasses 32,000 acres with 8,000 surface acres of water, making it an ideal destination for boating enthusiasts. Ten boat ramps around the shoreline provide access for fishing, jet skiing, wakeboarding, and other water sports. The lake is known for excellent fishing, with abundant populations of walleye, crappie, white bass, channel catfish, muskie, and bluegill. Three full-service marinas are located around the lake, and Holmes Bend features a swimming beach, fishing pier, and boat ramp within a mile of the campground. The campground includes a playground and interpretive trail, with miles of multi-use trails including horseback riding trails nearby. The surrounding land supports hunting opportunities for deer, turkey, rabbit, quail, squirrel, dove, and waterfowl. Within an hour's drive, visitors can explore Mammoth Cave National Park and Abraham Lincoln's birthplace. The Corps of Engineers Visitor Center and the Historical Civil War Atkinson-Griffin Log Cabin are located just 10 miles northwest.

Directions

From Columbia, KY, take Cumberland Parkway to exit 49 and merge onto Highway 55 north. Continue for 1.5 miles, then turn right on Highway 551. After a mile turn left on Holmes Bend Road and follow directional signs to the campground.
