Tailwater Picnic Shelter
This is a day-use picnic shelter only; overnight camping is not permitted. The shelter may be used free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis when unreserved, or reserved in advance through Recreation.gov. Restrooms are open seasonally and closed during winter months. Events other than picnics or gatherings over 50 people require a Special Use Permit submitted 30 days in advance.

Shelter reservations for any event other than a picnic (wedding, sporting event, etc.) or for over 50 attendees/participants require a Special Use Permit Application be submitted 30 days in advance of the reservation date. About
Tailwater Picnic Shelter is a day-use facility located within the Tailwater Recreation Area at Green River Lake in Taylor County, Kentucky. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the shelter sits just a few hundred feet from the Tailwater boat ramp where the downstream portion of the Green River begins. The Green River is one of the most biodiverse rivers in the country, home to more than 150 fish species, over 70 mussel species, and 42 endemic species found nowhere else in the world. Kayaking and canoeing downstream from the Tailwater boat ramp is a popular activity. The Corps of Engineers Visitor Center and the Historical Civil War Atkinson-Griffin Log Cabin are located 2 miles away. The shelter includes 8 picnic tables, grills, electricity hookup, parking, and access to a playground and restroom. The restroom is only open seasonally. This facility is for day-use only and does not permit overnight camping.
Directions
From Campbellsville: Head southwest on E Broadway St toward Lebanon Ave (0.6 mi). E Broadway St turns slightly right and becomes US-68 W/Greensburg Rd (0.5 mi). Turn left onto KY-55 S (7.6 mi). Turn left towards the Tailwater Recreation Area (489 ft). Turn right towards the Tailwater Shelter (0.2 mi).
