About

Vigne Campground offers a secluded wilderness experience in the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest, situated along Chesnimus Creek at approximately 3,500 feet elevation. The setting features an open pine-fir forest characteristic of Oregon's Blue Mountains region. With only 6 sites, this small campground maintains a quiet, uncrowded atmosphere ideal for those seeking solitude. The campground is primitive and undeveloped, with no potable water, no restrooms, and no fees. Campers must bring all water and pack out all trash. The remote location requires navigating roughly 25 miles of gravel forest roads from Enterprise, making it unsuitable for large RVs or trailers. The road conditions favor high-clearance vehicles, especially during wet weather. Popular activities include relaxing by the creek, berry picking, and picnicking. The area sees increased use during fall hunting season. The surrounding forest provides opportunities for wildlife viewing and exploring the backcountry of Wallowa County.

Directions

From Enterprise, travel north on Highway 3 for 14 miles to Forest Road 46. Turn right on FR 46 and continue approximately 13 miles to Crow Creek Road. Turn left on Crow Creek Road and go about 1 mile to Chesnimus Road (Forest Road 4625). Turn right onto Chesnimus Road and continue approximately 11.5 miles to the campground entrance. Roads are unpaved gravel and may be rough.
