About
Fields Spring State Park encompasses more than 800 acres of forested terrain in the Blue Mountains of extreme southeast Washington, near the confluence of the Snake and Grande Ronde rivers. The park is a naturalist's paradise featuring diverse species of plants, wildflowers, trees, and wildlife including deer, elk, and numerous bird species. The summit of Puffer Butte offers panoramic views into three states: Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, plus a stunning overlook of the Grand Ronde Canyon. The campground provides reservable tent and RV sites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire pit. Modern restroom facilities with hot showers serve the camping area, and a trailer dump station is available for a fee. For those seeking more comfortable accommodations, the park offers two teepees nestled in a peaceful forest setting, the rustic Tamarack Cabin, and the larger Wohelo Lodge suitable for family groups. The park operates year-round with seasonal variations. Summer hours run from 6:30 a.m. to dusk, while winter hours begin at 8:00 a.m. During winter months, the park transforms into a popular cross-country skiing and snowshoeing destination requiring a Sno-Park permit from November 15 through March 31. The Puffer Butte Warming Hut provides shelter for winter recreationists.
