About

Dougherty Campground is a small, primitive campground situated in an open pine forest and grassland near the northern boundary of the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area. The setting provides a quiet, lightly-used basecamp for exploring the surrounding Wallowa-Whitman National Forest. The campground features 12 sites: 4 accommodate tents or trailers while 8 are tent-only. Each site has a fire ring, picnic table, and parking space. Vault toilets are provided, but there is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. The campground uses a self-service fee station. Primary activities include camping, hiking, picnicking, berry picking, and wildlife viewing. The area sees significant use during fall hunting season. Quiet hours are enforced from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. The campground is not maintained during the off-season.
