Valley View Group Use Facility is located within the 1,500-acre Designated Bird Dog Training Area on the Lyndon B. Johnson National Grasslands in Wise County, Texas. Built through a volunteer agreement with local dog training enthusiasts, this campground offers 15 individual camp units available on a first-come, first-served basis at $10 per night. The facility features a 20-by-40-foot pavilion with a Texas-sized charcoal grill, barrier-free double restrooms with vault toilets, picnic tables, and water for horses. The campground is located within an active bird dog training area where organized dog trials take place from October 1 through March 31. Visitors should check the on-site bulletin board for current trial schedules. Pets must be leashed (no longer than six feet) or otherwise under physical restrictive control. Quiet hours are enforced from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. The site serves as one of the camping options for visitors exploring the LBJ National Grasslands multiuse trail system and nearby small ponds. No potable water is available, so campers must bring their own drinking water.

Directions

Follow U.S. Highway 81/287 north 11 miles to intersection with FM 1655 in Alvord; turn right and go 8 miles and cross Montague County Line; go 1/2 mile and turn right on Roberts Road. Follow Roberts and turn left on CR 2690 for 1 mile and turn right on Parker Dairy Road at 100 yards; turn left on CR 2777 and follow to Valley View 1 mile on right. Or follow FM 730 north from Decatur for 9 miles and turn left on CR 2461 (Cottonwood Cemetery Road); at the fork, turn right on CR 2560 for 6 miles and turn right on CR 2675 for 2 miles. Turn right on CR 2777 and follow for 1 mile to Valley View on right.
