Fort Richardson State Park combines Civil War-era history with modern camping facilities in the rolling prairies of Jack County. The park preserves seven original and restored buildings from the 1867 frontier fort, including the post hospital, officers' quarters, powder magazine, and bakery. Self-guided tours are available weekends from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with ranger-led tours offered Tuesday through Friday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Camping options are spread across two areas. The main park features the West Camping Loop with 4 full-hookup sites and 19 sites with 20/30/50-amp electric, plus the East Camping Loop with 18 sites offering 20/30-amp electric. All sites include water hookups, fire rings with grills, and picnic tables, with restrooms and showers nearby. The North Park area at Lost Creek Reservoir, located 3 miles from the main entrance, has 14 campsites with water and electric but is restricted to single-axle trailers and tents only. North Park provides access to a swimming beach, fishing pier, and kayak launch. The 12-mile Lost Creek Reservoir State Trailway connects the main park to the lake and accommodates hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians. Five dedicated horse campsites are available adjacent to the trailway. The park frequently reaches capacity on weekends and holidays; advance reservations through Texas State Parks are strongly recommended.

Located at 228 State Park Road 61, Jacksboro, TX 76458. From Jacksboro, take US Highway 281 south approximately 1 mile to Park Road 61, then turn left and continue to the park entrance.
