About

Located south of Cottonwood Lake along FS Road 900, Tadra Point Trailhead serves as the primary access point for the 75-mile LBJ Multi-Use Trail System on the Lyndon B. Johnson National Grassland. The trailhead was constructed through the volunteer efforts of local equestrian groups and is used throughout the year as headquarters for various non-commercial group events, including equestrian endurance rides. The campground offers 20 parking spurs and 6 pull-through sites with numerous hitching posts for horses. Amenities include water for horses (not for drinking), a pavilion with grill, and vault toilets. The facility sits at the confluence of five color-coordinated trail loops: the 25.5-mile Orange trail, 14.5-mile White trail, 14.4-mile Blue trail, 10.7-mile Red trail, and 10.4-mile Yellow trail. Tadra Point operates on a first-come, first-served basis only. Campers are required to physically arrive at the campground to purchase and claim a site. Some sites may offer payment via QR code scanning using the Recreation.gov mobile app where cellular service is available. Overnight camping is $10 per night, with Interagency Senior/Access Recreation Passes providing a 50% discount. Cash or check payment should be expected.
