About

Murrell Park offers primitive tent camping on scenic Grapevine Lake in the heart of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this facility provides 11 tent-only campsites available through Recreation.gov reservations. Each site includes a picnic table with shelter top, fire pit, and charcoal grill, all within a short walk from vehicle parking. The park does not accommodate RVs or trailers. The park is home to the well-known Northshore Trail, a premier destination for hikers and mountain bikers. Motorized bikes, including E-bikes, and horses are not permitted on this trail. Fishing enthusiasts can access eight separate fishing trails for excellent bank fishing opportunities. Popular catches include black and white crappie, catfish, and bass. Two lighted boat ramps with courtesy docks accommodate varying lake conditions, providing easy access to the 7,280-acre Grapevine Lake. Murrell Park sits on the north shore of Grapevine Lake, where 60 miles of rolling shoreline provide habitat for diverse wildlife including white-tailed deer, turkey, squirrel, armadillo, rabbit, and numerous bird species. The nearby city of Grapevine offers historical attractions dating back to 1844. The park operates year-round with a 14-day camping limit per 30-day period.
