About
Valley View Group Campground comprises five primitive group campsites nestled along the Delaware River within Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Each site can accommodate groups of 5 to 25 people and features a fire ring, picnic tables, bear-proof trash containers, bear-proof storage lockers, and seasonal vault toilets. The campground is accessible in two ways: by vehicle down a short gravel roadway from US Route 209, approximately 2.5 miles north of Bushkill, or by paddling in via canoe or kayak on the Delaware River. The flat camping area sits beneath a shaded canopy of hardwood trees, providing a peaceful natural setting with easy river access. A common area with benches and a flagpole is centrally located, perfect for group activities and mingling. The McDade Recreation Trail, a 32-mile packed gravel path paralleling the Delaware River, is just a short 0.2-mile walk from the campsites, offering excellent hiking and biking opportunities. Free firewood is provided and can be supplemented by collecting dead and down wood within 100 yards of the campground. Bringing in outside firewood is prohibited to prevent invasive species. The campground enforces strict rules: no pets allowed (only ADA service animals), no alcoholic beverages, and quiet hours from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Generators and chainsaws are prohibited. Reservations are required and must be made at least two weeks in advance through Recreation.gov.
Directions
Located approximately 2.5 miles north of Bushkill on US Route 209. Turn onto a short gravel roadway from Route 209. The campground can also be accessed by paddling in from the Delaware River.
