About

Worthington State Forest Campground sits along two miles of Delaware River frontage within the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area in northwestern New Jersey. The campground offers 78 sites on 6,660 acres of forested terrain. Sites 1-23 are tent-only, while sites 29-82 accommodate tents, travel trailers, and motorhomes with back-in access. Three group sites provide capacity for up to 35 people each and include bear-proof food storage lockers. Each campsite includes a picnic table, fire ring, and lantern holder. Modern amenities include flush toilets, hot showers, and drinking water spigots throughout the campground. Dumpsters and recycling bins are located behind the park office, and firewood is available for purchase during business hours. A small picnic area with tables and charcoal grills is available first-come, first-served. The location provides access to nearly 20 miles of hiking trails, including 7 miles of the Appalachian Trail which crosses the Delaware River and ascends through the mountain ridge. A boat launch near park headquarters serves canoeists and kayakers. Natural features include the 1,085-acre Dunnfield Creek and 258-acre Sunfish Pond Natural Areas. Black bears are present throughout the forest. Interpretive programs are offered seasonally in the campground.
