River Camping

River Camping provides 62 primitive campsites along the Middle Delaware National Scenic and Recreational River within Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. These boat-in only sites are designed for paddlers undertaking extended trips on the Delaware River, with minimum river mile requirements of 14 miles for one night, 26 miles for two nights, and 34 miles for three nights. The reservation system operates on a zone-based model across five designated areas stretching from the Northern Boundary to Kittatinny Point. Paddlers reserve a zone rather than a specific site, allowing flexibility to choose an available campsite within that zone upon arrival. Each site includes a campfire ring, and seasonal toilet facilities vary by location, including vault toilets, composting toilets, and portable toilets. Camping is limited to one night per zone, with a maximum of 10 persons and 5 tents per site. Tents must be pitched within 50 feet of the fire grate. Campers must pack out all trash, and glass containers are prohibited. Small campfires are permitted only in existing fire grates using dead and downed wood; outside firewood is prohibited unless heat-treated and certified. Quiet hours are enforced from 10 PM to 6 AM.

Park headquarters is located approximately 8.5 miles north of I-80 and approximately 21 miles south of I-84 on River Road in Pennsylvania. US-209 intersects with River Road and can be accessed from both I-80 and I-84. Located in Bushkill, PA. River campsites are boat-in access only from the Delaware River.
