About
Swartswood State Park Campground occupies a scenic setting in the rolling hills of northwestern New Jersey, providing convenient access to Swartswood Lake and the park's trail network. The campground offers a mix of wooded and grassy tent sites, each equipped with a fire ring, picnic table, and lantern holder. Three group campsites across from the park office accommodate parties of 7 to 20 people in a secluded area near Duck Pond. For those seeking more shelter, six cabin-like structures with wood stoves sleep up to four people each and remain open through mid-December, extending beyond the main camping season. Amenities include flush toilets, hot showers, and drinking water. The park prohibits pets in all overnight facilities and does not permit alcoholic beverages. No electrical hookups are available. Swartswood Lake offers fishing, swimming, and boating opportunities, with a boat launch located within the park. The surrounding trails provide hiking through mixed hardwood forests and wetlands. Reservations are made through the New Jersey camping reservation system at camping.nj.gov.
