About

Valley View Campground is one of two individual campgrounds at Fremont Peak State Park, situated on a mountain ridge with sweeping views of Monterey Bay. The campground features 25 primitive sites shaded by oak trees, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. The setting provides a peaceful retreat among pine and oak woodlands with opportunities for birdwatching and stargazing. The park offers 4 miles of moderate hiking trails that circle the peak, including routes to the summit where General John C. Fremont first raised the American flag in California. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the park's natural and historical features. Drinking water is available at the park, and pit toilets are distributed throughout the camping area. Access to the campground requires navigating a steep, narrow mountain road with sharp turns. Wood and charcoal fires may be banned during fire season. The campground operates year-round and accepts reservations through ReserveCalifornia.
