About

Sunset State Beach Campground sits on the coast of Monterey Bay, 16 miles south of Santa Cruz in Watsonville. The campground is divided into three distinct camping areas: South Camp, Pine Hollow Camp, and Dunes Camp. All 85 sites are set among Monterey pines offering shade and wind protection. The park features some of Santa Cruz County's most impressive sand dunes, rising up to 200 feet high, along with a wide sandy beach popular for walking, fishing, and watching the sunset. Each campsite comes equipped with a picnic table, fire ring with grill, and bear-proof food locker. The campground provides flush restrooms and coin-operated hot showers throughout the camping areas, as well as potable water spigots. This is a dry camping facility with no electrical, water, or sewer hookups at individual sites. A dump station is available on-site for a $10 fee. Maximum RV and trailer length is 31 feet. South Camp and the group camp remain open year-round, while Dunes and Pine Hollow close from October through mid-March. Dogs are allowed in the campground on a 6-foot leash but are prohibited from the beach. Maximum consecutive stay is seven days.
