About

Upper Bluster Campground sits in the spectacular Jarbidge Wilderness area within Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, one of the most remote wilderness areas in the contiguous United States. Located approximately 3.5 miles south of the historic ghost town of Jarbidge, this primitive campground offers adventurous campers a chance to experience true backcountry solitude surrounded by hundreds of miles of hiking trails, wildflower blooms, and trout-packed streams. As a primitive camping area, Upper Bluster provides basic amenities. The campground operates entirely on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservation system in place. All camping is free of charge. Vault toilets are available, but campers must bring their own water as none is available on-site. The remote location and primitive nature make this best suited for tent camping and truck camping, though the area is accessible to those prepared for rugged Nevada backroads. The Jarbidge area is known for its spectacular countryside, offering access to the Jarbidge Wilderness with its diverse wildlife, including Nevada's big game animals, and over 40 different types of wildflowers. The region provides excellent opportunities for hiking, fishing, and experiencing one of Nevada's most remote and pristine wilderness areas. Visitors should come prepared with 4x4 capability, a full spare tire, and plenty of water and supplies.
