About
Moonflower Canyon Group Site is a reservable day-use area managed by the BLM Moab Field Office, located approximately 3.5 miles from downtown Moab along Kane Creek Road. Situated at the mouth of a scenic canyon across from the Colorado River, the site benefits from the shade of large cottonwood trees year-round. This popular location is known for its ancient rock art panels on nearby canyon walls and a short hiking trail that leads deeper into the canyon to a cool oasis. The site is designed for group gatherings of up to 25 people and can be reserved through Recreation.gov up to five days in advance. If not reserved, it operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Facilities include picnic tables, a grill, and a vault toilet shared with the Moonflower trailhead parking area. No water or firepits are available on-site, and no RVs, tent trailers, campers, or overnight camping are allowed. The location provides easy access to numerous outdoor recreation opportunities, including hiking, mountain biking, and four-wheel drive trails along Kane Creek Road. Arches National Park is about 15 minutes away, and Canyonlands National Park is approximately 45 minutes from the site. Visitors are reminded to respect the cultural heritage by not touching or damaging the petroglyphs.
