About
Grandstaff Campground is a scenic BLM-managed riverside campground situated along the Colorado River, just 3 miles east of Moab on State Route 128. Designed exclusively for tent camping, the campground offers 16 individual sites available on a first-come, first-served basis. Each site is limited to 10 people and two vehicles, with amenities including a parking pad, picnic table, fire ring, and access to vault toilets and trash receptacles.
The campground's popularity stems from its prime location, offering spectacular views of the Colorado River and the massive red rock cliffs of Arches National Park. Summer visitors appreciate the natural shade provided by the riverside setting. Due to its proximity to Moab and beautiful scenery, sites typically fill by morning during the peak season from March through October.
Outdoor enthusiasts will find excellent recreational opportunities nearby, including the Grandstaff Trailhead for hiking and the Porcupine Rim Trail for mountain biking. The Colorado River offers additional recreation, though visitors should exercise caution as the river has dangerous undercurrents and life jackets are required. Campers should note that no water is available on-site and must bring their own or fill containers in Moab before arriving. The campground operates at $20 per night, with 50% discounts available for holders of Senior Annual, Senior Lifetime, Access, Golden Age, and Golden Access passes.
