About
Union Creek Campground, constructed in 1934 by the Civilian Conservation Corps, sits in the heart of the Union Creek Historic District surrounded by towering old-growth forest. The campground features 73 unique campsites spread along the confluence of Union Creek and the Rogue River, creating a peaceful setting with the sound of rushing water throughout. Each site offers privacy and seclusion, though sites 64-87 may be challenging to access due to large trees and tight curves along the campground road.
The campground includes three full hookup RV sites located near the day use area that can accommodate most trailers and allow off-highway vehicles. The Upper Rogue River, fed by snowmelt and springs from Mt. Mazama's volcanic slopes, flows through the area with swift, clear water. Within two miles, the river has carved over 200 feet down into ancient Mazama pumice deposited 8,000 years ago during the eruption that created Crater Lake.
Hikers can explore the Upper Rogue River Trail that follows the entire length of the river, or venture along the Rogue Gorge Trail System connecting Rogue Gorge Day Use through the campground to Natural Bridge Day Use Area. The nearby Rogue Gorge and Natural Bridge offer stunning views where the river plunges through black lava formations and disappears underground through a 250-foot lava tube. Union Creek Resort is within walking distance, providing convenient access to supplies, meals, and lodging.
