Air Quality Alert issued July 20 at 3:16PM PDT by NWS Medford OR

July 20th, 3:16 PM — July 22nd, 2:00 PM

Oregon Department of Environmental Quality has issued an Air Pollution Advisory for northern Jackson County...in effect until 2 PM PDT Wednesday. Wildfires burning in the region combined with forecast conditions will cause air quality levels to fluctuate and could be at unhealthy levels. Smoke levels can change rapidly depending on the weather. People at risk include infants and young children, people with heart or lung disease, older adults and pregnant people. People can take the following precautions to protect their health: * Follow local burn restrictions to prevent deteriorating air quality. * Avoid strenuous outdoor activity during periods of poor air quality. * People with heart or lung problems and young children are especially vulnerable. These people should stay indoors while smoke levels are high. * Use certified High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters in indoor heating, ventilation, cooling and air purification systems. About

Natural Bridge Campground stretches along the Upper Rogue River in Oregon's Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. The 17 campsites are set among towering conifers that provide pleasant shade and natural privacy screening. Each site includes a picnic table and fire pit. The campground has vault toilets but no potable water, so campers must bring their own water supply. There is no trash service; pack out all garbage. The campground takes its name from the nearby Natural Bridge, a striking geological feature where the Rogue River disappears into a lava tube and reemerges downstream. A short interpretive trail leads to viewing points with informative signs explaining the volcanic geology. The Rogue-Umpqua Scenic Byway passes nearby, and other hiking options include the Upper Rogue River Trail and Rogue Gorge Interpretive Trail. Located just 11 miles from the entrance to Crater Lake National Park, Natural Bridge makes an excellent base camp for exploring the park while enjoying a quieter, more affordable forest setting. The Upper Rogue River offers fishing and swimming opportunities directly from the campground.
