Underhill Campground sits in the eastern reaches of Mt Hood National Forest within the Barlow Ranger District. Originally a designated dispersed camping area, it has been established as a small fee campground that provides access to the 44 trail system, a popular network of trails in the area. The campground is situated near a creek and lies adjacent to Underhill Trail. Facilities are minimal, consisting only of vault toilets. There is no potable water on site, so campers must bring their own supply. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations accepted. Sites are $10 per night, with Interagency Senior/Access Recreation Pass holders receiving a 50% discount on the site they physically occupy. Payment is by cash or check only.

Directions

From Hood River, take OR Hwy 35 south 26 miles, approximately 0.15 mile past milepost 71, to Dufur Mill Road (Forest Road 44). Turn left (east) on Dufur Mill Road and drive approximately 12.2 miles east to Forest Road 4450. From Dufur, go west on Dufur Mill Road and after 5.1 miles take the right fork to stay on Dufur Mill Road (Forest Road 44). Continue for 9.5 miles to Forest Road 4450.
