About

Knebal Springs Campground occupies a pleasant open Ponderosa pine setting on the east side of Mt. Hood National Forest within the Barlow Ranger District. The campground provides direct access to the Knebal Springs Trail, a roughly 10-mile loop that draws mountain bikers and horseback riders with its moderate terrain and occasional views of Mount Hood. This is a primitive campground with basic amenities. A single vault toilet serves the facility, but there is no potable water available, so campers must bring their own supply. The maximum vehicle length is 22 feet, making it suitable for smaller RVs, truck campers, and trailers but not for larger motorhomes. Day use is also available for those wanting to access the trailhead without camping overnight. The campground typically receives light use, offering a quieter experience compared to more popular Mt. Hood campgrounds. The Knebal Springs Trail can be combined with Bottle Prairie Trail for a longer loop ride. The surrounding forest provides opportunities for hiking, wildlife viewing, and enjoying the high-desert pine ecosystem of the eastern Mt. Hood slopes.
