About
Swift Creek Campground sits at just over 8,000 feet elevation near the confluence of Swift Creek and the Yellowstone River in Ashley National Forest. The campground offers a scenic mountain setting with a lovely waterfall nearby and serves as a gateway to the High Uintas Wilderness. A trailhead from the campground provides access to numerous alpine lakes for backpacking and day hiking adventures. The Yellowstone River offers fishing opportunities for brook, brown, and rainbow trout. The campground is situated in the South Slope Western Uinta Mountains region, providing a remote mountain experience. Access requires traveling north from Mountain Home on county roads before turning onto the Yellowstone Road for the final approach. This is a basic campground with restrooms available but no potable water on-site. Quiet time is enforced from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., including all generators. Dogs must be leashed at all times within the campground, and shooting of any type is prohibited. The campground operates at a budget-friendly rate during the summer season.
Directions
From Highway 40 in Duchesne, turn north onto Highway 87. Go 15.5 miles to the Mountain Home turnoff. Turn north onto N 21000 W and continue 2.5 miles toward Mountain Home. From Mountain Home continue north on N 20780 W, County Road 1566 for 4 miles, then turn east onto Yellowstone Road #119. Follow Yellowstone Road north for 11 miles to Swift Creek Campground.
