About
Tyler Bend Campground is a developed campground located in the middle district of Buffalo National River, one of the few remaining undammed rivers in the lower 48 states. Set on a tranquil section of river beside pastures, the campground offers scenic views of limestone bluffs and access to 135 miles of free-flowing water. The facility includes 28 paved drive-in sites, 10 walk-in tent sites, 5 group sites, and a day-use pavilion with electricity. The campground provides flush restrooms, hot showers year-round, potable water, and a dump station during the operating season. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. The nearby Tyler Bend Visitor Center, open year-round, offers exhibits on the area's history, flora, and fauna, plus educational programs. Recreation opportunities include fishing for smallmouth bass, catfish, and sunfish (Arkansas license required), kayaking, tubing, and swimming in the Buffalo River. Hiking trails from the campground lead to the Collier Homestead, a restored 1930s Ozark dwelling, and connect to the Buffalo River Trail system. The middle river location extends the paddling season through mid- to late summer when rainfall is adequate. Maximum stay is 14 consecutive days, with quiet hours from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Directions
From Springfield, Missouri take U.S. Highway 65 south for 109 miles, then turn right at Ranger Road (follow signs) and drive another 2 miles to visitor center and campground. From Little Rock, Arkansas take Interstate 40 West for 34 miles, then exit U.S. 65/Skyline Drive. Continue on U.S. Highway 65 north for 74 miles and turn left at Ranger Road (follow signs) to the visitor center and campground.
