The campground is open. Reservations are required March 13 through November 15, 2026, through Recreation.gov. Sites are $16 per night. Water is available during the reservation season. Winter camping (November 16 through March 12) is free and first-come, first-served with no water available.

About

Rush Campground sits in the lower district of Buffalo National River, near the historic Rush ghost town where zinc mining once flourished. The campground's 12 tent-only sites are tucked into a wooded setting along the river, offering easy access to paddling, fishing, and hiking opportunities. A low-water bridge crosses Rush Creek at the entrance, which can become impassable during heavy rain events. Each campsite includes a picnic table, fire ring, and lantern hook, accommodating up to six people. Vault toilets are available year-round, while potable water is only available during the fee season from March 13 through November 15. There are no showers, electrical hookups, or trash collection; campers must pack out all refuse. RVs, trailers, and camper vans are not permitted. Reservations are required during the fee season through Recreation.gov or by phone. Winter camping from November 16 through March 12 is free and first-come, first-served, though no water is available. Cell service is unreliable in the area, so advance reservations are strongly recommended.

Directions

From Yellville, drive approximately 12 miles south on Highway 14. Turn onto County Road 6035 and follow it about 4 miles to the Rush town area. Past the town about 1 mile, the road forks; bear right and the campground is at the end of the road. Note: The low-water bridge at the entrance can become impassable during heavy rain.
